The entourage of Barcelona icon Lionel Messi have moved to make clear that the Argentine has not enjoyed any kind of recent improvement in his relationship with Joan Laporta.
The subject of the rapport between Messi and Laporta of course reemerged as a prominent talking point in Catalunya’s capital over the last week.
This came after the former paid a surprise visit to the Spotify Camp Nou.
The trip gave rise to widespread suggestions that Messi was ready to put his shaky recent past with the Barcelona brass behind him.
The Argentine was of course left heartbroken upon the Blaugrana pulling their contract offer at the last minute, culminating in his departure back in the summer of 2021.
Upon Joan Laporta announcing plans to erect a statue for Messi outside the renovated Camp Nou, it appeared even more clear that the parties were moving towards a resolution.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then this is in fact not the case.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘Despite Laporta telling local station Catalunya Radio that his relationship with the player is “correct”, Messi’s camp say it’s non-existent.’
