Liverpool have agreed a new contract with Dominik Szoboszlai that will place the midfielder among the club's top earners.
Andoni Iraola's side have reached an agreement with Szoboszlai on a contract that will run until 2031, ending speculation over his future.
The Hungary captain was Liverpool's standout performer during a challenging 2025/26 campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions.
His performances were recognised with Liverpool's Player of the Season Award, while he was also voted into thePremier League Fans' Team of the Season.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed an agreement is in place that will make Szoboszlai one of the club's top earners. An official statement is expected soon.
The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to Real Madrid, after Hungary boss Marco Rossi had called a move to Spain the player's 'dream'.
“Due to the very close and direct relationship I have had with Dominik Szoboszlai since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has always been his dream,” Rossi said toMarca.
“Since he started playing football, Dominik has had only one dream: to play for Real Madrid.
“I don’t know if he will be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club.
“The idea that is always on your mind is to fulfil your dream and make it a reality, and, from my point of view, that is the only and most important thought that can dominate Dominik’s mind.
“However, I do not rule out the possibility of him staying at Liverpool and renewing his contract there, especially as he is highly valued within the club.
“He is a very important player for Liverpool, and Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Szoboszlai's contract has tied his future to Anfield for the foreseeable future. The midfielder is understood to be in contention for Liverpool's vice-captaincy, following Andy Robertson's departure for Tottenham Hotspur.
