Liverpool will begin their pre-season next week
Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has been handed a early injury boost with summer signing Jeremy Jacquet taking part in the U21s' latest training session.
The Frenchman was officially unveiled as a Liverpool player at the start of the week after his transfer was announced during the January window.
The Reds beat Chelsea to the signature of the highly-rated central defender and Standard Sport understands that they have paid Rennes a guaranteed £55million, with a further £5m in add-ons.
As part of the agreement, Jacquet was allowed to spend the remainder of the 2025-26 season with Rennes. However, he ended up playing a total of of 159 minutes after his Liverpool transfer was confirmed
A Rennes statement readL=: “On the pitch against Lens on February 7th, Jeremy Jacquet was forced to leave the game early due to a left shoulder injury.
“Following medical examinations, surgery has been scheduled in the coming days.
“Stade Rennais F.C. wishes him a speedy recovery.”
The good news for Liverpool is that Jacquet has made a full recovery as he has been, this week, undertaking preparatory work at the AXA Training Centre with the U21's ahead of the Liverpool senior team commencing pre-season next week.
On Thursday, the 20-year-old was watched by Iraola and sporting director Richard Hughes.

Also present for the session was Harvey Elliott, somewhat of a forgotten man at Liverpool after enduring a nightmare of a loan spell with Aston Villa last season.
Despite being on the bench for the Europa League final, thus earning a winner’s medal, Elliott made just nine appearances across all competitions and returns to his parent club with his future up in the air.
The 23-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield, but is set to get an opportunity to prove his worth to Iraola in pre-season.
