In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Liverpool are big admirers of Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. It is believed that the Reds are keeping tabs on the Brazilian centre-back with Arne Slot eager to strengthen his squad this summer.
Murillo enjoyed a solid campaign at the City Ground as he put in a series of impressive performances at the heart of Nottingham Forest’s defence. The Brazilian talent participated in 39 matches for the Midlands club last season, scoring two goals in all competitions.
The 22-year-old was a rock at the back and did well to make 53 tackles, 69 blocks and 36 interceptions in the Premier League. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from inside his half after completing 78.5% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Nottingham will run out in the summer of 2029 which could make it tough for the Reds to get a deal done for him on the cheap this off-season.

Murillo is a tough-tackling defender who can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.80m, he can be a weak presence in the air but has got the intelligence to build attacks going forward. He already knows the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Merseyside club.
Murillo would undoubtedly add more bite and steel to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s defence. He is good enough to serve as a solid backup to Ibrahima Konate and Virgil Van Dijk at Liverpool. The Brazilian sensation might even help the Merseyside outfit compete for a lot of major honours over the next decade.
At 22, Murillo has the potential to be a future star in the Premier League as long as he continues to improve with each season. All in all, the Reds would be wise to snap the Brazilian up in this summer transfer window.
