Liverpool ASSURED that Andy Robertson to Spurs deal will still happen

Last week it appeared that Liverpool were close to selling Andy Robertson to Tottenham.

The 31-year-old has been short of starts under Arne Slot this season ever since Milos Kerkez was signed for £40m. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup around the corner it is understandable that Robbo wants first-team football.

And with Spurs undergoing a left-back fitness crisis this was a deal which worked out for everyone. But it hit the skids when Liverpool were unable to get their preferred replacement in.

Kostas Tsimikas, 29, has been on loan at Roma but had endured a difficult spell in the Italian capital. Therefore it looked a natural choice to recall the Greek and use him as Kerkez’s backup until the end of the season.

Roma however have been unwilling to let the left-back return to Anfield despite their own sparse use of him.

The Giallorossi need another left-back in the winter window and are believed to be close to reaching a deal for David Moller Wolfe - the Norway international at Wolves.

There is still a way to go before agreement is sealed between the two clubs but once that happens it is expected that Tsimikas will be released.

And that in turn will see Robertson’s proposed transfer to Spurs back ON.

That’s according to a report in TEAMtalk which claims that the Scotland captain is currently satisfied with the way events are progressing.

“Liverpool have informed Andy Robertson that a move to Tottenham Hotspur remains an option for the final week of the window,” the report reads.

“Liverpool are open to recalling Tsimikas from his loan in Italy, a move that would free Robertson to complete a high‑profile switch to Spurs.

“Roma have privately assured Liverpool that they are confident of landing a new left‑back.”
