Liverpool and Marc Guehi

Liverpool tried to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace to end the summer transfer window, of course. They completed just about everything to get it done, too, only for the Eagles to pull the plug at the last minute.

That leaves Guehi on an expiring contract and Liverpool in a tough spot to sign him. After all, the fact he'll be a free transfer in 2026 dramatically grows his number of suitors.

TBR Football reports that Liverpool remain in talks over getting a deal done for Guehi, though they're no longer favourites to sign him. No one is, it seems, as the centre-back bides his time over a move.

But it's thought that this will grow to be one of the biggest free transfers 'of all time'. That's the level of interest here and why it's now incredibly difficult for Liverpool to sign Guehi.

They will not give up on it, however. And getting him signed would now be an almighty coup - something to shout about on the level of Wirtz and Isak.

2026 promises to be another big year for transfers, then. Guehi is firmly at the forefront of it all.
