Liverpool’s injury woes continue as Trent Alexander-Arnold has been left out of England’s squad due to an ankle problem. However, Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones have both earned call-ups for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Reds’ right-back suffered an ankle injury in Liverpool’s Champions League clash with PSG. While initial scans show no serious damage, he is set to miss a crucial period, including Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle and England’s fixtures against Albania (March 21) and Latvia (March 24).
His absence is a significant blow for both club and country. With his vision, passing range, and leadership, he has been a vital figure for Liverpool and a strong contender for a starting role under Thomas Tuchel, who named his first England squad on Friday.
Despite Alexander-Arnold’s setback, Liverpool will still have two players in the England squad. Centre-back Jarell Quansah has been included, continuing his rapid rise after a breakthrough season at Anfield. Curtis Jones also makes the squad, rewarded for his impressive performances in midfield.
Jones already made his mark for England, scoring on his debut in a 3-0 victory over Greece last November. Meanwhile, Quansah is yet to make his senior debut but was on the bench for games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland last year. He was also on standby for the Euros in the summer.

Tuchel’s 26-man squad includes former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, returning after nearly a year out of the England setup. There are also first-time call-ups for Newcastle defender Dan Burn and Arsenal prospect Miles Lewis-Skelly.
Marcus Rashford, back in form following his loan move to Aston Villa, has also earned a recall, while key players like Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, and Harry Kane are all present.

Liverpool have yet to confirm the full extent of Alexander-Arnold’s injury. Manager Arne Slot is expected to provide an update in his press conference on Friday morning ahead of the Carabao Cup final.
With silverware on the line, Liverpool will be hoping for positive news as they prepare for a crucial fixture at Wembley.
