Liverpool have been in top form this season, but after a weekend off, they’ll head into their Champions League first-leg matchup against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes either refreshed or a bit out of rhythm.
Before shifting their focus to Europe, Liverpool kept their momentum going with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Anfield on Wednesday.
PSG, meanwhile, looked dominant over the weekend, rolling to a 4-1 win over LOSC Lille with all four goals coming in the first half. Liverpool may be the favorites, but they’ll need everyone at their best to get past a confident Parisian side—though they could be shorthanded.

On Tuesday, The Athletic’s James Pearce reported that Cody Gakpo is a fitness doubt for the first leg against PSG.
Moreover, the report reveals that The Dutch forward, the team’s second-highest scorer this season with 16 goals, skipped training due to ankle discomfort but still traveled to Paris with the 24-man squad.
“Unfortunately, yesterday Cody had to block a shot and felt a bit of pain again,” Liverpool manager Arne Slot said. “We took him with us to judge how he is tomorrow and whether he can be part of the squad. It will be a close call.”
