Over the last two seasons, it feels like a lot of time has been spent convincing players to agree new contracts, despite the side winning the Premier League and spending £446m in the summer.

Very little more can be done to convince people that Liverpool intend on competing at the elite level for the foreseeable future. Arne Slot's project is flourishing and yet still there are some reservations.

Trent Alexander-Arnold felt it was best for his career to join Real Madrid, playing football in abroad for the first time and Ibrahima Konate looks likely to follow suit now he's in his final contracted year.

However, one contract rebel that had been set to leave at the end of the season might now have some re-evaluating to do before he makes his final decision. He's still held in high regard at the club.

Robertson to sign a new deal?

Liverpool's 31-year-old vice-captain Andy Robertson is now in the last year of his contract, having decided to stick around this season to assist new left-back signing Milos Kerkez, as well as hoping to end his time on Merseyside in the right way, by giving his all to the team until he's no longer required.

Atletico Madrid initially considered a move for him, although the offer than came Liverpool's way was substantially below the Reds' valuation. As such, he took some time to consider what was best for his family and remaining at Anfield for one more season felt like the best move for him.

Furthermore, the plan at left-back seems to have worked out quite well. The Scot and Kerkez will be the two full-backs this season, while Kostas Tsimikas is out on loan at Roma. Next season, the Greek international can be cover for the Hungarian, with Robertson looking at a final move before retiring.

However, we've seen Robertson in action this season a little more than regular than we previously thought he would be, since Kerkez is only 21 years old and the young player is still developing.

As such, while it's generally understood that there will be a changing of the guard in future, this season might not be the right time and an extension to Robertson's deal is not unforeseeable.
