Liverpool have to complete no-brainer deal to bring back former star

Liverpool have struggled to find the level that they displayed for much of their title-winning campaign last season.

Last summer saw plenty of turnover in the playing squad, with the Reds spending over £400 million on new signings, but several key players also left Arne Slot’s side.

Luis Diaz’s departure was the most high profile. The Columbian was a big part of Liverpool’s title success and has gone on to shine at Bayern Munich.

There were also some players who found themselves on the periphery of Slot’s squad last season that moved on such as Darwin Nunez and Jarell Quansah.

With the Reds unable to reach the heights of last season, it could be time to bring back one of the stars they sold in the summer.

Darwin Nunez to Liverpool makes perfect sense

Nunez was a divisive figure among the Anfield faithful during his time in Merseyside, with many feeling the Uruguayan never lived up to the hefty price Liverpool paid for him.

Despite struggling with inconsistency, Nunez delivered some excellent moments in a Liverpool shirt, and things haven’t really worked out for him since he left.

The 26-year-old joined Al Hilal last summer, but has failed to nail down a starting place and has only played 1,667 minutes this campaign.

Despite not being a regular, Nunez has managed to rack up 14 goal involvements in just 24 matches.

A report from Uruguayan outlet Referi has circulated stating that Nunez has agreed a deal to leave the Saudi club this summer, potentially via a contract termination that would see the striker available for free.

Bringing back Nunez, an experienced player who can be deployed in multiple positions, 12 months after selling him would be an excellent bit of business for the Reds.

Nunez’s raw talent and ability to be used up front or on the left would make him an excellent squad player for Slot, and the Uruguayan may relish the opportunity to prove himself at Liverpool.
