In a recent report, The Daily Mirror stated that Liverpool have identified Napoli forward Victor Osimhen as a target. It has been mentioned that the Reds are showing interest in acquiring the services of the Nigerian forward this summer.

Osimhen’s Impressive Run Of Form In Turkish Football

Osimhen enjoyed a productive loan spell at Galatasaray in the previous campaign when he put in a lot of impressive displays as the spearhead of their attack. The Nigerian attacker found the back of the net on 37 occasions and secured eight assists in 41 matches for the Turkish outfit last season in all competitions.

The 26-year-old led the line well and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 5.2 shots per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He kept 41.6% of his attempts on target (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Serie A club will expire next summer which could open the door for the Reds to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

What Will Osimhen Bring To Liverpool?

Osimhen is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. The Nigerian talent has proven his worth as a prolific finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. Standing at 1.86m, he is a strong presence in the air as well.

We can expect Osimhen to bring more firepower to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons.

At 26, Osimhen has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good option for the Reds to pursue in this summer transfer period. However, he might need some time to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League.

Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting a striker of Osimhen’s skill set. Therefore, the Reds would be wise to move in for him soon. However, Slot has to give him some time to get settled into life in English football if Liverpool manage to acquire his services this summer.
