Liverpool haven’t refitted their midfield since 2023 and while several of their current stars remain in their prime the squad could benefit from freshening up.
And the club have got Eduardo Camavinga in their sights - according to a report in TEAMtalk - with Liverpool in constant contact with the Frenchman.
Camavinga, 23, has had a difficult season at Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso. He is not favoured as a starter by the new manager and has struggled with occasional injuries too.
It has been suggested that the France international could therefore be moved on - with a price tag of £80m mentioned in the report.
Camavinga does not want to leave the club in January - but the deal could be revisited at the end of the season.
“Liverpool are one of the clubs that remain in constant contact with Camavinga’s camp,” the report reads.
“The Reds have been informed that he won’t be moving in January, so any potential move for the midfielder will have to wait.”
Right now his focus appears to be getting back into the Madrid lineup - and the player contracted until 2029 will reassess the situation next summer.
Liverpool would be foolish not to take a look - even at £80m - as Camavinga is an elite talent who can cover three positions.
He is a natural holding midfielder but can also play further forward in a No8 role. And last season he was even utilised as a left-back by former Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Camavinga joined Madrid back in 2021 from Rennes in France - winning two Champions League titles - and would provide a significant upgrade should Richard Hughes move on this signing.
