Our Anfield insiders dropped a late Friday bombshell that should cause ripples through the soccer world. It concerns one of the hottest and most coveted talents on the continent, Kenan Yıldız. The Juventus attacking midfielder is only 20 years-old, but occupies a critical role for the Bianconeri after making his first team breakthrough in the 2023-24 season.

All About Yıldız

Born in Regensburg, Germany, Yıldız is a true multi-cultural child of the EU. Joining the Bayern Munich academy at seven years old, he steadily worked his way up the ranks. As a teen, he became a mainstay in Bayern’s teams, eventually earning the captain’s armband for the U19 side. In the 2021-22 season Yıldız scored six goals and contributed eight assists over 20 matches.

Surprisingly, Bayern let the young man’s contract expire, and Juventus were swift to move in and grab him. After a few matches with their U19 squad, he was called up to the Next Gen, Juve’s reserve team. In 2023, just turned 18, he graduated to the first team, where he has remained a fixture ever since. 

Yıldız attracted international attention during the FIFA Club World Cup, where he made three starts, played 251 minutes and scored three times, while also notching one assist. His 33.3% goal conversion rate was the fifth highest of that tournament for players with more than 240 minutes on the pitch. Pundits excitedly speculated on where this bright young talent might end up.

Now we know that Liverpool is one of those interested parties.

The Chiesa Angle

Discussions between the Reds and Juve have been happening around Federico Chiesa, whom the Italians desperately want on loan to help bolster their attack. Liverpool are reluctant, impressed with Chiesa’s versatility and effort, despite him getting limited minutes. Chiesa himself is rumored to want more playing time and would be open.

Liverpool have craftily inserted Yıldız’s name into these talks, and have been proactively working on a deal for the Turkish international. Sources indicate Anfield are ready to sign, and would even wait until the summer, such is their level of interest.
