The champions-elect are boasting an almost fully fit squad
Liverpool appear to be cruising towards the Premier League title, and can boast an almost fully fit squad heading into the final months of the season.
A 2-0 win at Manchester City on Sunday, coupled with Arsenal’s home loss to West Ham on Saturday, saw the Reds move 11 points clear at the top of the table, albeit having played one game more than the Gunners.
Cody Gakpo was able to return from injury in the final minutes of that game, suggesting he could start against Newcastle in midweek. Elsewhere, Trent Alexander-Arnold played 90 minutes as he continued his return from a knock, leaving just two in the treatment room.
Here is all the latest Liverpool injury news...
The forward was ruled out against both Wolves and Aston Villa with a knock, but was able to return in the final moments of Liverpool’s 2-0 win at Manchester City.
Arne Slot said at his pre-match press conference that Gakpo was a “close call” to play, but was named on the bench and then given a handful of minutes at the end.
He will be in contention to start against Newcastle.
The right-back came on against Aston Villa to give Alexander-Arnold a rest, but lasted a matter of minutes before being forced off.
It is a blow for both club and player, who has struggled with fitness issues this season having been offered a chance to impress after positional rival Alexander-Arnold picked up an issue of him own.
Asked for an update last week, Slot said of Bradley: “He still has to come in, so we don't know yet. I would be completely surprised if he's involved in the Sunday game, or the Wednesday game against Newcastle. You can assume that's not going to happen.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Joe Gomez will miss most of the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.
The defender initially picked up the issues against West Ham in Liverpool’s final fixture of 2024, but then returned to face Plymouth in the FA Cup only to pull up inside 10 minutes.
Arne Slot said afterwards that Gomez was now facing “a number of weeks” out and has now undergone surgery to fix the issue.
Speaking on Thursday, Slot said: “Joe had surgery for his hamstring injury, so he's out for a long time. He will be back maybe just before the end of the season.”
Potential return date: May 2025
