Arne Slot is no longer the Liverpool manager.
Even though all the signs pointed towards the Dutchman staying for another season, Fenway Sports Group did the unexpected and got rid of him.
There were times throughout the season when it felt like Slot would've been able to turn things around but, by the end, it was clear that he was too far gone.
Players were being used out of position and some of them, no matter how poorly they performed, were kept in the starting XI by the former Feyenoord boss.
for months and now, their prayers have finally been answered.
And, now that Slot has actually exited, reports are emerging left, right and centre about his time at the club with one insider even revealing why things just didn't work out for him in the end.
Whoever took over as the Liverpool boss after Jurgen Klopp's departure was always going to have a mountain to climb.
However, the fact that Slot won the Premier League title at the first time of asking made fans feel like they'd won the lottery.
But, as everyone knows, things took a turn for the worse and by the end, fans were disappointed with Slot with the players looking like they no longer believed in him.
And now, as per a fresh update from Sami Mokbel, a Liverpool insider has just shared why Slot really failed in L4.
"There were question marks over whether the players truly believed in Arne Slot's methods," he wrote.
"One club source, who was also at Liverpool during Jurgen Klopp's tenure, said: 'Arne's a great person but you always felt he lacked that authority Jurgen had and that became more evident when things weren't going well on the pitch.'
"The departure of veterans Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and now Ibrahima Konate is telling too.
"Slot was never going to be Klopp but he won the Premier League title at the first time of asking and deserves immense credit for that. For that alone, he will be a part of Liverpool's illustrious history.
"The understanding is that FSG initially backed Slot to rebuild the supporter faith that has waned considerably during this campaign's struggles.
"But, as the season concluded, the belief became that delaying the decision which looked increasingly inevitable would be unfair on the squad and damaging to preparations for 2026-27."
Although Slot may have delivered a Premier League title to Anfield, it was clear that he'd taken the team as far as he could go.
, especially with the players he chose to sign during the summer transfer window.
The fact that the Anfield outfit only just managed to qualify for the Champions League is a damning insight into how bad the club have actually been this season.
Whoever takes over from Slot next, whether it's Andoni Iraola, Pierre Sage, Sebastian Hoeness or even Luis Enrique, they must ensure that they get the players on their side and play a different brand of football.
Because, if they go through another window spending hundreds of millions of pounds and don't even manage to challenge for the Premier League or the Champions League, they could find themselves in serious trouble.
Here's hoping that FSG figure out who they want in charge as soon as possible so that they can start planning for the 2026-27 campaign.
