Despite spending £450m on improving the Premier League title-winning squad last summer, sporting director Richard Hughes is not done yet.
The priority in 2026 appears to be adding a replacement to the squad for both Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. With the duo out of contract in 2027 - and not getting any younger - it has been speculated that younger successors could be coming to the club.
In defence the likes of Ronald Araujo and Marc Guehi have been linked and there is now talk of a “top winger” moving to Anfield too.
Antoine Semenyo is the name very much in the frame at the moment - with Richard Hughes having previously signed the Ghana international for Bournemouth.
The Merseysiders will be right at the top of the queue for the 25-year-old, who is rated at around £80m by his club.

One other forward reportedly on the Liverpool hitlist is Michael Olise. The Bayern Munich star is under contract until 2029 with his current employers said to be keen on a renewal.
But if the English-born France international decides that he would rather not sign a new deal then expect Liverpool to compete for his signature.
But it’s not only Semenyo and Olise who are making waves with Reds’ recruitment staff.
The Lyon winger Malick Fofana was reportedly in the frame for a summer 2025 arrival with his club under considerable financial pressure.
The Belgian international, 20, ultimately stayed put and has made a flying start to the season with two goals and one assist in his first seven Ligue 1 games of the campaign.
Under contract until 2028, Fofana has attracted attention from many of the continent’s top clubs and right now Liverpool cannot be excluded from the conversation.
That’s according to a new report in Caught Offside, which claims the Anfield club are keeping tabs on Fofana.

“His consistent development has not gone unnoticed, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan all keeping tabs on his progress,” the report reads.
“Liverpool’s recruitment team is also weighing up options like Michael Olise and Antoine Semenyo.
“Lyon have set a £50 million asking price for their prized asset.”
However, right now, it must be said that there are no plans for a bid.
But depending on what happens with either Semenyo or Olise, we could see Richard Hughes activate a plan which sees Fofana end up with the English champions.
