International football brought a full schedule for Liverpool as nine players stepped out for their countries on Friday. It was a day that highlighted contrasting fortunes across continents, with competitive qualifiers mixing alongside friendlies and age group fixtures.
Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch all started for the Netherlands in their World Cup qualifier against Poland. The match finished 1-1, a result that kept Group G finely balanced. Gravenberch was the only one of the trio to leave the pitch, substituted in minute 89, while Van Dijk and Gakpo completed the full 90mins.

Florian Wirtz added another cap for Germany during their 2-0 victory over Luxembourg in Group A, a result that strengthened their position in qualifying.Conor Bradley also remained heavily involved for Northern Ireland, playing throughout a narrow 1-0 defeat by Slovakia that left his side frustrated after a tight contest.
Earlier in the day, friendly fixtures brought mixed outcomes for two Liverpool midfield stars. Alexis Mac Allister featured for Argentina for 85 minutes in their 2-0 win over Angola as he continued his influential form in the heart of their midfield.
Mohamed Salah also started for Egypt, although his country fell to a 2-0 defeat by Uzbekistan.
Liverpool’s representation extended into the youth ranks. Trent Kone Doherty featured for Republic of Ireland U21s in a Euros qualifier, although his side were beaten 2-0 by England.For England U20s, Amara Nallo stepped off the bench for the second half in their meeting with Japan, a match that ended 1-1 and offered valuable minutes for the young defender.
