But on the whole, it doesn't feel like either of the duo is ready to step up into outright first-choice options. Or at the very least Liverpool need more depth given the injuries they have both suffered.
In the long-term Arne Slot cannot rely on Szoboszlai to play the right-back role forever. Sooner or later he actually needs to play a right-back there.
Some options in the club's academy are worth keeping an eye on. DJ Esdaille and Lenix Conde are both highly rated. Calvin Ramsay is someone Liverpool have not yet given up on yet, even though he's now 22-years-old.
Ultimately, it seems as though Liverpool are also considering going back into the market.
According to Rousing the Kop, the club is making their first steps in tracking Argentine wonderkid Dylan Gorosito.
The 19-year-old has caught the eye of club scouts at the U20 World Cup where he has one goal and three assists in six appearances for his nation.
The report claims Liverpool scouts have been impressed by what they have seen of the right-back and will now look to continue to monitor his progress when he returns to Argentina, where he plies his trade for Boca Juniors.
Gorosito is quick and very technically gifted. He's not necessarily an overlapping wing-back who takes on defenders. He likes to sit deep and control possession for his team - a bit similar in that sense to Alexander-Arnold.
