Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is facing some contract uncertainty over several players.
The immediate priority would appear to be Ibrahima Konate. Links with Real Madrid have re-emerged in recent days - and unless a new contract is agreed with the Reds then he will be leaving for free.
A decision needs to be made over Andy Robertson meanwhile with the £160k per week defender slated to leave the club in summer 2026 as well.
The situation for Curtis Jones is alarming.
With his contract expiring in 2027 the 25-year-old was linked with the exit in January. If Hughes cannot come to an arrangement with the England midfielder soon then he could be sold in the off-season.
The Premier League champions’ contract priorities beyond Konate would appear to lie with Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.
Neither of those deals is going to be easy - with the Hungary captain in particular set to ask for a mammoth salary to stay.
Happily for Hughes some contract talks are going to be more straightforward than others.
In the case of first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker for example - it looks all but confirmed that he will sign the one-year option included in his current contract.
That’s according to a new report from James Pearce in the Athletic - which states that the Brazil No1 will remain on Merseyside until 2027.
“With Liverpool certain to exercise their one-year option, his current contract effectively runs until summer 2027,” the report reads.
