One of Liverpool’s biggest rivals for the past decade has been Manchester City, but the Citizens are in a rebuild themselves.
Even in a weaker season for Pep Guardiola’s side the title could still be heading to the Etihad, but multiple first-team players are reportedly on the transfer list.
According to a report from Football Insider, Omar Marmoush, Tijjani Reijnders and Savinho could all depart Guardiola's side in the coming months.
Marmoush was heavily linked with a Merseyside move before he joined the Sky Blues and now the Reds have the perfect opportunity to act on their previous interest.
The Egyptian is capable of playing across the forward line, and his versatility and experience would make him a great addition to Slot’s squad.
Reijnders is another player who was on Liverpool’s radar before joining City, and the Dutchman also played under Slot at AZ Alkmaar.
Despite struggling to nail down a place in City’s staring XI this season, the 27-year-old still boasts 14 goal involvements and would offer a lot to a Liverpool midfield that has often looked weak this season.
Marmoush and Reijnders are both valued at roughly €75 million (~£65m) by FootballTransfers, so getting the pair to Anfield could be a costly exercise.
