Liverpool require additional cover at centre-back before the summer transfer window closes.
With the deadline arriving on September 1, the Reds are running out of time to add numbers and quality to the ranks.

Arne Slot currently has Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez at his disposal as senior options - with 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni also being acquired from Parma in the off-season.
But Liverpool are only one injury or suspension away from a centre-back crisis - and Konate has started the season far beneath his best form.
That’s why links with Marc Guehi make sense. The Crystal Palace captain is out of contract in 2026 and his club have been holding out for £40m before selling.
Liverpool have not yet got close to that mark and are instead hoping to increase the pressure on the FA Cup holders for their skipper.
The Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes will be well aware that Palace do not want to lose Guehi for nothing. And so he is preparing to come back with an offer for the England international this week.
That’s according to a new report from Liverpool insider Lewis Steele - who claims Guehi is lining himself up for a first-team role at Liverpool whether Konate is there or not.
“Liverpool have had a long-term interest in signing Marc Guehi, the Crystal Palace captain, and will make another move to do so this week in the hope that Selhurst Park chief Steve Parish reduces the asking price,” a report reads.
“Like Konate, the England international’s deal expires in June. He is keen to make the move but, if it does not materialise now, Guehi is happy to wait until next summer when he can move on a free.
“Many think he would be coming in as a deputy option but the former Chelsea academy star would fancy his chances of making the best XI.”
