Reds remain on the market for a new attacker

Liverpool have added Bradley Barcola to a shortlist of alternatives for Alexander Isak.

The Premier League champions’ transfer activity so far this summer has been a hot topic as they’ve spent nearly £300million and remain open for more business.

In particular, the Reds are keen to bolster their options across the forward line after allowing Luis Diaz to join Bayern Munich in a deal worth around £65m.

Furthermore, with Darwin Nunez set to join Saudi club Al-Hilal for a fee believed to be in the region of £46.2m plus £10.4m in add-ons, Liverpool are expected to reinvest the funds in Isak after seeing an opening bid rejected for the Sweden international

However, because Newcastle are set to miss out on the signing of Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United, they are unlikely to sanction the sale of Isak unless they bring in a suitable replacement.

As a result, the Merseyside giants may have to look elsewhere for a new forward. Links to Real Madrid forward Rodrygo emerged last weekend, although the Brazilian reportedly wants to stay in Spain and fight for his place under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

According to L’Equipe, while Paris Saint-Germain are not keen to sell the Frenchman this summer, they are unlikely to accept less than £87.3m (€100m) from a direct Champions League rival.

That said, journalist Fabrizio Romano has since confirmed that while Barcola is indeed a ‘dream’ target for the Reds if they’re unable to sign Isak, no contact has been made with PSG as the Newcastle striker remains the priority.
