Liverpool are set to open talks with Paris Saint-Germain after preparing an opening offer for France winger Bradley Barcola.
Sky Sports News reports that, following preliminary discussions with the player’s representatives, the Reds are ready to formalise their interest by approaching PSG. Strengthening the wide areas has been a priority since Mohamed Salah’s departure, and Barcola has long been admired by Liverpool’s recruitment team.
The 23-year-old is entering the final two years of his contract and is understood to have informed PSG that he does not intend to sign an extension. Frustration over limited involvement in some of the club’s biggest matches has fuelled uncertainty over his future, while the prospect of joining Liverpool is said to appeal to the France international.
Any deal, however, is likely to depend on PSG softening their valuation. Sky Sports News reported earlier this week that the French champions valued Barcola at around £145 million (€170m), although more recent information suggests they could be willing to negotiate at closer to £128.5 million (€150m).
Liverpool believe Barcola fits the profile Andoni Iraola wants for his new-look side. The Spaniard’s teams at Bournemouth and Rayo Vallecano were built around energetic, direct wingers capable of pressing aggressively and attacking defenders in one-on-one situations, qualities Barcola has consistently demonstrated in France.
The winger has also amassed an impressive list of honours since joining PSG in 2023, winning nine major trophies, including back-to-back Champions League titles. Liverpool view him as a player capable of making an immediate impact as they reshape their attack for the post-Salah era.
Arsenal continue to monitor Barcola’s situation but have yet to make a formal approach. Liverpool, by contrast, are now preparing to take the next step, with official club-to-club talks expected to begin as they test PSG’s resolve before the transfer window closes.
