Mohamed Salah has once again etched his name into English football’s history books. The Liverpool forward was crowned PFA Men’s Player of the Year for a record third time, an achievement that underlines both his longevity and his relentless brilliance.
The 33-year-old delivered a remarkable campaign last season, scoring 29 goals and registering 18 assists as Liverpool lifted the Premier League title. In doing so, Salah became the first player ever to win the award on three occasions, having previously claimed it in 2018 and 2022.
“I look at myself now, a guy coming from Egypt and making it to the top level, making history today, it’s something that makes me so proud,” Salah said at the ceremony in Manchester.

For Salah, the award was not just recognition of his goals but of his wider influence. He admitted that an “incredible season” could yet play a role in shaping his Ballon d’Or hopes, saying such an accolade “would mean a lot to me.”
But the Egyptian’s focus also lies with Liverpool’s next chapter. With more than £270 million spent this summer, the squad is undergoing transition. “You can’t say yes or no; it’s tricky,” Salah reflected on Liverpool’s strength. “You need to give your experience to the new players because they’ve never played for Liverpool and playing for Liverpool is not easy at all… it’s a huge pressure for the young players. Virgil [van Dijk], me and all the guys in the team try to give them the experience to help them.”
Elsewhere, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers collected the PFA Young Player of the Year award after a breakthrough season under Unai Emery, netting 14 times across all competitions. Rogers himself admitted his ambitions are set high: “Later down the line, I want to be one of those incredible players people speak about, so to do that I have to do what they did and what they followed after.”
From Salah’s historic third triumph to Rogers’ rise, this year’s PFA awards reflected both established greatness and emerging talent. For Liverpool fans, though, it is Salah’s latest accolade that resonates most — a reminder that, even in his thirties, their talisman continues to define eras.
