Liverpool star confirms UNCERTAIN future

Given how difficult Liverpool are finding things right now, it shouldn't come as a surprise that some of the players are considering their future. For the first time in a while, nothing is certain.

If you asked a selection of the fanbase, plenty would say that Arne Slot's job is on the line, despite what we're hearing from the news reports on musings from with in the Liverpool hierarchy. The title win last season gave the Dutchman credit in the bank, but everything's fallen apart since then.

We knew before the season started that Ibrahima Konate would be having conversations about a possible departure from Merseyside, following the looming expiration of his contract. The possibility of a January move is still available to him, but the Reds haven't given up on their hopes to keep him.

But the Frenchman isn't the only one considering his position. In a bombshell interview, another Liverpool defender spoke out about what his thought process is going to be when the season ends.

Tsimikas' return from loan is NOT guaranteed

Speaking to The Athletic, Roma-loanee Kostas Tsimikas gave us insight into where his head is at.

He said: "I miss the city [Liverpool]. I lived there for five years, I love everything in Liverpool. They have a special part of my heart. The people are very kind, some of the kindest I've ever met in football. They'd always try to support the team, in good, in bad, they would always do their best to help you.

"I want everything for this club, because from day one, I was fully committed there. I was the Greek Scouser and I always will be, I'll keep it my whole life."

It's clear that the Anfield faithful have made a significant impact on him, and in the future, we're destined to have an ideal member of the Liverpool alumni to play in legends matches. Tsimikas is a cult favourite, known best for his commitment to the team, regardless of how often he played.

But we can't forget why he's currently playing in Italy at Roma, he didn't play as often as he wanted.

Andy Robertson was the primary left-back in Slot's title-winning campaign, and Milos Kerkez was brought in from Bournemouth. The Scot is set to be available as a free agent in the summer, while Tsimikas is contracted until 2027, so it definitely looks as though the wrong player was moved on.

But after having been given a taste of life outside of Liverpool for the first time in five years, and given the Reds' struggles right now, it's not guaranteed that he'll be returning to Slot's set up.

He added: "You never know... The most important thing for me is to be healthy, to train hard, to play more games. Next year is a different story for me. I want to be successful, I want to win things. Only God knows what will happen in the next year."

The transfer to Roma was only a loan move, with no 'obligation to buy' or 'option to buy' clause embedded in the deal, so you'd expect him to return. But whether the present Liverpool environment is something that Tsimikas wants to play in, is an entirely different question. He could look to get a permanent move elsewhere, regardless of whether Robertson's place at the club opens up.

Kerkez's position is the only certainty, and he might well have an understudy in waiting, but it's not out of the question for Liverpool to have a third new full-back join across the last two seasons.
