Liverpool are ready to let a player go once a deal for Alexander Isak is complete. Things are now moving quickly.
Liverpool have reportedly made progress on a deal for Alexander Isak with Newcastle United. It's been a long time coming but a shock agreement on Thursday triggered progress.
That agreement was between the Magpies and Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade. Newcastle will reportedly pay around €80m for the 23-year-old, who joined Stuttgart on a free transfer last summer.

But he is, after much struggling, their pick at centre-forward. Woltemade will move to Newcastle in the coming days and that opens the door for Isak to leave.
Finally. Liverpool went into this summer with Isak as their no.1 target and with just three days left, he's still very much that.
Newcastle, though, were highly unlikely to sell before finding a replacement. Now they've got that and everyone expects a deal with Liverpool to follow.
That, however, has implications for at least one more Red.
Ben Jacobs is one of many journalists claiming Harvey Elliott’s future is tied to Isak’s arrival. There’s a deal on the table with RB Leipzig for Elliott, but Liverpool aren’t currently willing to sign off on it.
That changes if Isak arrives. Essentially, the Reds would let Elliott leave in two scenarios: the bid is too good to turn down, or they get a new attacker.
It’s unclear whether Leipzig can make the former happen. Jacobs feels an offer of around £40m is likely, given previous sales this summer, and we’re not sure that’s really ‘too good to turn down’.
