Fabrizio Romano reports that the Serie A side are interested in taking the Reds’ academy product temporarily until the end of the season, while an option to buy could also be included in a deal.

Jones has struggled to nail down a regular first-team place under Arne Slot, usually having to settle for a place on the bench.

Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz all sit ahead of him in the pecking order at Anfield.

Jones, 25, has played 29 times across all competitions for the Merseyside club this term, and has been deployed in a multitude of positions.

Slot has utilised him at right-back in the absence of a natural full-back, with Liverpool currently undergoing an injury crisis both at the heart and on the right of their defensive quartet.

Jones has also played off the left flank in the 2-2 draw at Fulham, as well playing behind the lone striker as a No10 and as a No8 in the Reds’ double pivot.

His only goal contribution this season came in the 1-1 draw at home to Burnley, where he set up Wirtz’s opener.

Jones made his senior debut for the club back in 2019, in a Carabao Cup game against Milton Keynes, where he was voted man of the match.

He made his Premier League bow later that year, in December away at Bournemouth off the substitutes’ bench.

He netted his first senior goal for the club in January 2020, when a Reds side made up of nearly all teenagers and academy prospects defeated Everton 1-0, with Jones notching the winner with a curled effort.
