16-year-old Rio Ngumoha has been selected over Federico Chiesa in Liverpool’s Champions League squad.

Ngumoha has established himself in the first-team picture this season, scoring a late winner in the 3-2 victory over Newcastle.

And he has been included by Arne Slot in the squad for the league stage of the competition.

There is no room for Chiesa, however, despite scoring on the opening day win over Bournemouth.

The Italian has found game time difficult to come by since joining the club from Juventus and will not feature for the Reds in the league stage of the tournament.

Liverpool’s full registered squad:

Defenders: Gomez, Endo, Van Dijk, Konate, Kerkez, Bradley, Leoni, Robertson, Frimpong

Midfielders: Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones, Gravenberch

Forwards: Isak, Salah, Gakpo, Ekitike, Ngumoha.
