Liverpool could now keep a star who was reportedly set to leave. Quite the U-turn.
There are some difficult goodbyes coming this weekend as Liverpool host Brentford in their final match of the season. Both Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson grace the turf one last time for the Reds.
But there could be more. Ibrahima Konate's contract will expire as things stand and Liverpool are struggling to get him a new one. Unless things change, he's also playing his final match.
Joe Gomez, the club's longest-serving player may also leave in the summer. Gomez nearly left last summer and with just one year on his deal, there's every chance he moves on.
Curtis Jones is also heavily linked with a move away. Like Gomez, he's been close to leaving within the last 12 months and this summer could see him finally jump to a new club. Again, he's got one year left on his deal.
But then there's a complicated one. Alisson Becker, who once again has just one year left, has been consistently linked with a move to Juventus.
There's no question that the Italians are eager to sign him. It's been reported that Alisson has gone as far as agreeing to terms with the Old Lady.
However, winwinsports claims a source close to the player as telling them that Alisson will stay. "All indications are that Alisson will stay," says that source.
That would be a fairly dramatic u-turn as, quite honestly, we'd written off the chances of Alisson remaining at the club next season. That's been the level of the reports coming from Italy.
So if this report is accurate and he's decided to stay, we'll take that as a massive win.
Liverpool Return and Stats
As of 23 May 2026, Alisson Becker has returned to full training and is in line to feature in Sunday’s final Premier League match against Brentford. The 33-year-old goalkeeper has been sidelined with an injury since March, limiting him to 34 appearances and 13 clean sheets across all competitions this season. Head coach Arne Slot confirmed Alisson's availability, giving him the chance to start at Anfield.
Transfer Speculation Twist
Alisson’s future remains heavily debated. While Italian reports initially claimed he gave Juventus the "green light" for a summer move—even without Champions League football—recent updates from sources close to the player suggest a major twist. Reports on 23 May state that Alisson remains incredibly happy at Liverpool and is expected to stay for next season, rather than joining the emotional squad departures of Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
The shot-stopper was officially named in Brazil's 26-man squad on 18 May for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
