Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is set to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal after all parties reached a verbal agreement.
The Reds are selling the 26-year-old centre-forward for €53 million plus add-ons after his unproductive time in Merseyside.
Nunez joined Liverpool three seasons ago for around €100m, but failed to deliver the goods. He scored just 40 goals in 143 appearances across all competitions.
Nunez, who earns £140,000 per week, will leave Anfield for Saudi Arabia, where he will bid to revive his career under Simone Inzaghi.
He was previously linked with Napoli, but they could not meet Liverpool’s asking price, forcing him to remain at Anfield.
Liverpool are reportedly working to replace Nunez. They are waiting to move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, once they get the green light.
The Reds are also still looking for a left winger, with Luis Diaz leaving for Bayern Munich.
Liverpool want Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola. However, the Ligue 1 champions are not keen on selling the Frenchman.
Youngster Rio Ngumoha will be watching the developments at Liverpool keenly after shining for the club in pre-season.
Ngumoha was one of the bright spots of the pre-season tour, excelling on the left flank, but Cody Gakpo is ahead of him in the pecking order.
If Liverpool add another winger to their squad, it may persuade him to leave on loan in search of playing time. He can take his game to the next level if he leaves temporarily.
