Pressure continues to mount on under-fire Reds boss
Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick as the Reds were dumped out of the competition, leaving them with just the Champions League left to make a success of their season.
Pressure continues to mount on Slot, who is now facing even louder calls to be sacked less than a year on from winning the Premier League title during his first season in charge.
Paris Saint-Germain, the Champions League holders, lie in wait in Paris on Wednesday as Liverpool look to recover from what the Liverpool Echo have branded “the worst defeat of Slot’s tenure.”
Slot has described the game as "very big, very important", but insisted it will not define their season.
He added: "We're really looking forward to it, but that is not the only objective for us this season. We want to qualify for the Champions League next season as well."
Liverpool face a fight to finish in the top five, with at least one of the Reds, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Manchester United to miss out come the end of the season.
And Liverpool legend John Barnes insists that the club should keep faith with Slot for the remainder of the season.
He told the Liverpool Echo: "We won the league with Arne Slot and all of a sudden we want to sack him?
"If he then goes and Alonso comes, suppose Alonso fails in his first six months or first year, are we going to say sack him and bring somebody else in?
"I always support the managers, whoever they are, because they come to the club because of their success, because they're good managers, and they have to be given time."
