Liverpool may have claimed the Premier League crown with ease last season, but even champions can find room for refinement. For all the dominance Arne Slot’s side displayed, there were moments when the Reds looked short of that extra burst to stretch the pitch.
Darwin Núñez, Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz all carry pace, yet none offered quite the electric acceleration that truly unsettles defences. That shortfall has been addressed this summer. And if Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez are to be believed, Liverpool have added a player who might just be the quickest in the world.
Jeremie Frimpong wasted little time making an impression. On matchday one he clocked the highest top speed in the Premier League, a statistic that instantly confirmed what teammates had already witnessed on the training ground.
“Jeremie, every day,” says Ekitike when asked to name Liverpool’s fastest. “Too fast, too quick,” Kerkez agrees.
“I think he’s the fastest in the world,” Ekitike continues.“Yeah, I swear,” laughs Kerkez.
That kind of endorsement is rare, especially from players whose own games are built on sharp movement and acceleration. Yet Frimpong seems to have redefined the standard even among elite athletes.
Speed is not merely spectacle. For Liverpool, Frimpong’s explosiveness provides a new dimension. Where once they risked becoming predictable in tight matches, now there is a player capable of tilting the field in seconds. Slot’s system thrives on transitions, and with the Dutchman marauding down the flank, opponents may find themselves permanently on edge.
The discussion did not end with raw speed. Alongside goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, Ekitike and Kerkez were also asked to name Liverpool’s sharpest football mind. Their choice was unanimous.

“It should be Macca,” Kerkez insisted. “He’s an unbelievable footballer. He understands the game.”“Simple things, but he does them well,” Ekitike added.
Alexis Mac Allister may not match Frimpong’s pace, but his ability to read the game ensures Liverpool’s midfield remains balanced and intelligent.
