Liverpool now appear to be moving quickly to wrap up an important signing as an offer has been lodged.

Liverpool's summer transfer window hasn't exactly gone according to plan. The club has already had to deal with a major managerial change after Arne Slot's position became untenable, forcing the Reds into an unexpected reset at a crucial point in their preparations for the new season.

Things didn't get any easier from there. One of Liverpool's top transfer targets, Yan Diomande, ultimately chose to join Paris Saint-Germain, handing the club another frustrating setback as they looked to get their recruitment drive up and running.

The timing has hardly been ideal either.

With the World Cup taking place, transfer activity across Europe has slowed considerably, meaning plenty of clubs are waiting before making big decisions. Liverpool are no different, and there is still a huge amount of work to be done before the transfer window closes.

The squad itself could also undergo significant changes over the coming weeks. Several first-team players have already left Anfield, while the futures of Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones remain uncertain amid growing speculation over potential moves away. If even one or two of those players depart, Liverpool's recruitment plans will need to accelerate quickly.

Replacing Mohamed Salah is another enormous task facing the club.

Players of his quality and influence simply don't come around very often, making it one of the biggest challenges of the summer.

Liverpool have at least started addressing their defence, bringing in Jeremy Jacquet following Ibrahima Konate's exit, but that is only one piece of a much bigger puzzle.

There are still obvious gaps across the squad.

Midfield remains a priority, while both full-back positions may also require reinforcements.

Andy Robertson has already moved on, and with Kostas Tsimikas also expected to leave, Liverpool could find themselves needing both a new left-back and a right-back before the window comes to an end.

It's just so hard to fathom that Richard Hughes is going to be capable of addressing all the problems and bringing in the right profiles for Andoni Iraola this summer before the transfer window shuts close.

It's not impossible but Hughes would have to get a lot of work done, and seeing how negotiations dragged on last summer for several key signings it's looking unlikely.

Yet at the same time, Liverpool might be operating differently this summer. Victor Munoz's arrival showed that the Reds are now preferring to keep things behind the scenes until they are one step away from signing their man.

One area where Liverpool have definitely been successful is when it comes to their youth recruitment. This started in January with some clever acquisitions to bring in Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Mor Talla Ndiaye and it has continued this summer.

The first big signing was securing Joshua Abe's future. Liverpool did a great job convincing the England youth sensation to pick the Reds over other suitors when agreeing both a scholarship and a pre-pro contract with the club.

On top of that, Liverpool have also secured the future of Samuel Martinez, Dara Jikiemi and are looking to sign Diego Pelembe as well.

But potentially the best transfer of the summer by Michael Edwards and his global recruitment team might still be on the way.

According to Geo Team, Liverpool were on the move this week with a club delegation flying out to Estonia to watch Andria Bartishvili in action in Georgian side Iberia 1999's first round Champions League qualifier against FC Flora.

The report claims things are moving fast. According to Geo Team Liverpool have already made a contract offer to the 17-year-old wonderkid who is being regarded as the next biggest talent to emerge from Georgia since Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Bartishvili is a no.10 and he has everything to reach the upper echelons of the game. Arsenal have also made an identical offer for his services.

So, this is something to keep a close eye on.
