Liverpool’s indifferent campaign was on show in their last-16 first leg against Galatasaray last week as they were beaten 1-0 in Istanbul, for a second time this season.

Victor Osimhen then had a goal ruled out in the second half which, had it stood, would have made the Reds’ task to progress even more difficult.

However, Liverpool will look to lean on the Anfield faithful in tonight’s second leg to set up a Champions League quarter-final against holders Paris Saint-Germain, in a rematch of last season’s last-16 tie.

That said, Van Dijk, Gravenberch and Jones are the three Liverpool players in immediate danger of missing a potential showdown with PSG as a booking for any of the trio against Galatasaray would rule them out of a the quarter-final first leg, if Arne Slot’s side progress.

As per UEFA’s ruling, ‘players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after three cautions, which did not result in a red card, as well as following any subsequent odd-numbered caution (fifth, seventh, ninth, etc.)’.

Gravenberch was also booked in Istanbul and both of his yellow cards have come against the same opposition.

Meanwhile, Jones has received yellow cards against Galatasaray and Inter Milan.

As yellow cards in the Champions League are not reset until after the quarter-final stage, it means Van Dijk, Gravenberch and Jones potentially have three more games to watch their step to avoid a ban.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike and Alexis Mac Allister are all on one yellow card heading into the Galatasaray decider.
