Liverpool's smartest transfer might be one they don't make before 2027

Liverpool fans want to see improvements from their team now.

They finished fifth in the Premier League last season which, after winning the Premier League the campaign before, is a massive fall from grace.

That's why players such as Victor Munoz are already being brought in as, the sooner Liverpool get their targets through the door, the easier it'll be for them to get accustomed to the way that they play.

This was one of the main problems that the Reds faced last term with players such as Alexander Isak waiting until deadline day to have their moves finalised.

And, even though Liverpool have missed out on Yan Diomande, there are still many other players who could improve their chances of winning the Premier League title.

However, there's a deal for one player who could end up being one of their best transfers but fans won't see him in Liverpool colours until 2027, if they even make a move.

Said El Mala could be one of Liverpool's best signings but they're better off waiting until 2027

Diomande was Liverpool's first-choice to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield.

And, even though the player himself said that it would be a dream for him to join Liverpool, he's seemingly chosen to try his luck with Paris Saint-Germain instead.

This means that the Reds are going to have to look into their many back-up options they had to try and replace the Egyptian King.

Since RB Leipzig were playing hard to get about Diomande, several names have been mentioned as potential options for Liverpool to explore and one of them was Said El Mala.

The FC Koln attacker has been in fine form for his club this term as he's managed to contribute to 18 goals across all competitions.

He's also only 19 years old and versatile which means he ticks a lot of Liverpool's boxes.

But, since he's naturally a left winger and has only played on the right once during the 2025-26 campaign, it's hard to see him as the Salah replacement.

Indeed, Cody Gakpo has been linked with an exit this summer but, since he's only just signed a new deal and no concrete moves have been made yet, he's likely to stay put.

And, with Rio Ngumoha seen as the next big thing to emerge from L4, there's not a lot of room for El Mala in Anfield at the moment.

But, if they keep an eye on him and allow him to develop in Germany for another season, Gakpo may have changed his mind and a spot could open up for him in the 2027-28 season, hence why they'd be better off waiting until then.

Said El Mala is of 'strong' interest to Liverpool

As mentioned, many reports have surfaced regarding the future of Liverpool's attack.

Now that Salah is actually gone, the hunt for the next Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino trio is on.

And, with the way that the Reds' recruitment seems to be going, signing younger players is one of the main things on their agenda.

Caught Offside have recently reported that El Mala is of 'strong interest' to Liverpool but, as mentioned previously, they also suggest that the German could be more of a target for the 'future' rather than now.

In fact, the report actually states that the Reds' preference would be to wait until 2027 to make their move.

On the face of things, this is a good thing because, as Florian Wirtz has shown, while you're still young, it's hard to adapt to life as a Premier League player after playing in the Bundesliga.

Agreeing a deal for him now and loaning him back would be a good way to secure the youngster but, if he ends up being a one-season wonder, Liverpool would get stuck with him.

There's obviously no knowing how any of this summer is going to pan out yet as so many of the Reds' first-team squad are being linked with a move away.

And, because they need to make so many changes, the likelihood of fans knowing their first-team squad before the first Premier League game of the season is becoming slimmer and slimmer each day.

Here's hoping that the Reds get everything ironed out as soon as possible.
