Al Hilal are reportedly willing to hand Mohamed Salah a "lucrative contract", with the Liverpool forward identified as Neymar's replacement for the Saudi giants.

Salah, as he has been at pains to point out throughout the season, will become a free agent this summer. The Merseyside outfit have offered their star forward a new deal which clearly hasn't met his demands. Shortly after the January transfer window opened, marking the point at which Salah could sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, he insisted that this would be his "last year" at Liverpool.

Clubs from across the globe have been monitoring the intriguing contractual standoff. Paris Saint-Germain briefly emerged as front-runners and Barcelona were sniffing around the possibility of a free transfer, but Al Hilal's interest is nothing new.

The reigning Saudi champions reportedly tabled a bid worth as much as £150m for Salah at the end of the summer 2023 transfer window. A year and a half later, Al Hilal remain just as keen on snapping up the Egyptian star, according to Sky Sports.

The team based in Riyadh are particularly eager to capitalise upon Salah's availability given Neymar's impending exit.

After arriving in Saudi Arabia 18 months ago for an enormous sum in excess of £77m, the Brazilian has failed to make an impact.

An ACL injury suffered while on international duty last season ruled Neymar out for 340 days and even though he is available once again, the 32-year-old will not be registered as part of Al Hilal's Pro League squad for the second half of the campaign, limiting his involvement to cup ties and the AFC Champions League.

Al Hilal are thought to be keen on bringing Salah to Saudi Arabia before this summer's inaugural edition of the expanded Club World Cup. The Riyadh outfit have been paired with Spanish giants Real Madrid, as well as Pachuca and RB Salzburg, in the group stages. If they make it beyond that initial phase, Salah would potentially be able to play in the round of 16 after his Liverpool contract expires on 30 June.
