Lorran is embarking on a fresh start at Flamengo, taking his chance under Leonardo Jardim. After losing his place last season and heading out on loan, the teenager is aiming to change his course at the club.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Jardim has been impressed by the 19-year-old and kept him with the senior group from day one of pre-season, now in a Portugal training camp.

The midfielder returned from a year with Pisa in Italy to a different landscape. When he left, Filipe Luís was head coach, but he departed in February, and Lorran came back to find Jardim in charge.

Aged 16, Lorran became the youngest player to score for the Flamengo first team. He then endured ups and downs, dropping to the under-20s and helping win the 2024 Under-20 Libertadores and the 2025 world title at that level.

Jardim has a track record of trusting academy talent, notably bringing through Kylian Mbappé at Monaco. During the World Cup pause, he promoted youngsters while senior players were away, using the window to assess and refine their qualities.

With Lorran available, Flamengo face River Plate on Friday 3 July at 15:30 Brasilia time in Portugal.
