Le Mans have confirmed the signing of Louis Mafouta from Guingamp on a two-year contract with an additional year as an option.
The deal had been in the works before Bruno Cheyrou arrived and was completed on Friday evening. The 32-year-old Central African Republic striker, who stands 1.86m, was welcomed at La Pincenardière by president Pedro Oliveira after a successful medical.
Mafouta enjoyed a standout campaign with En Avant Guingamp, finishing as Ligue 2’s second-top scorer with 15 goals, plus two assists. Internationally, he has 33 caps and 16 goals for the Central African Republic.
He also brings Ligue 1 experience from his spell at Metz in 2022, when he scored two goals in 15 appearances. His profile includes incisive runs in behind and sustained high-intensity work.
The Ligue 2 runners-up, newly promoted to the top flight, have now made their second addition after confirming the return of Algeria international Billal Brahimi, 26. Mafouta strengthens an attacking unit that last season leaned on Dame Gueye, who scored 10 league goals.
Antoine Rabillard extended his contract to 2028 in June, while Erwan Colas is tied to the club until 2029.
