Louis Saha says Cristiano Ronaldo could still shine in the Champions League at 41, crediting three qualities he believes make the forward unique.
“Yeah, because he's got three things that not many players have. So first, his body is not 41, that's for sure. He's probably 32 or 33 years old.” he told Goal.com.
“It is the concentration, it is tactical, it's the details that win you games. And definitely Cristiano is still one of the best for that because of his desire. And that's why he's been the top scorer in that competition, because it's concentration, little details, be in the right spot at the right moment with the right concentration and the right technique.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner now plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League and is under contract to 2027. He returned to action after a February strike, when grievances were aired over the way funds are supposedly disrupted among PIF-controlled teams. Speculation about MLS or a European return has since calmed.
Ronaldo tops the Champions League scoring charts with 141 goals and is the competition’s leading appearance-maker on 183. He lifted the trophy with Manchester United in 2008, then added four more during a nine-year spell at Real Madrid.
He will captain Portugal at the 2026 World Cup this summer, which will be his sixth finals. He will be desperate to add a global title to European Championship and UEFA Nations League honours, with 1,000 career goals also in sight.
