Lucas Paquetá sends message to West Ham before signing Flamengo deal | OneFootball

Flamengo have agreed a deal to sign Lucas Paquetá from West Ham, with the midfielder addressing the English club on social media.

The player said in a post that he had turned down moves to rival clubs and had not asked to leave, only to return home. He added that he is going home, will keep supporting West Ham and thanked the club.

He has clearance to travel to Rio de Janeiro to sign a five-year contract. He is due to fly on Wednesday 28 from England, with arrival expected on Thursday 29. Supporters are planning a big welcome.

Flamengo offered 42 million euros, about R$ 260 million, which West Ham accepted. The fee will be paid in instalments through to the end of 2028.

While the deal progresses, Flamengo face São Paulo at Morumbis on Wednesday 28 in the Campeonato Brasileiro opener. Kick-off is 21:30 in Brasília, with coverage on Rede Globo and on Premiere pay-per-view.
