Harry Maguire reportedly ‘snubbed a mega-money’ proposal from Inter Miami in order to ‘finish his career’ at Manchester United, as per Samuel Luckhurst.

It was confirmed yesterday that the centre-half had put pen to paper on a one-year contract to keep him tied to Old Trafford until June 2027, plus the option of an additional season.

Maguire stays committed to United before signing new deal

Luckhurst adds that when Maguire decides to hang up his boots and call time on his playing career, he is then aiming to start completing his coaching badges with United, which former teammate Jonny Evans also did when he retired last summer.

Taking up David Beckham on his offer would’ve seen Maguire get to ply his trade alongside Lionel Messi in the United States – an opportunity that plenty of veteran players would jump at the chance to do in the latter stages of their career.

However, the 33-year-old is fully committed to United, so much so that he even rebuffed interest from Napoli and an offer from AC Milan last year.

From now until May, his sole focus is ensuring United finish the campaign on a high by securing their Champions League spot for 2026/2027; the Premier League are poised to get at least five places in the competition as things stand, so it’s safe to say the Red Devils are favourites to be amongst the mix.

Recent Three Lions call-up has Maguire in contention for World Cup

Alongside his club endeavours, Maguire will also be quietly hoping that he does enough to retain his place in Thomas Tuchel’s selection for the World Cup.

He was called up to the England setup over the international break for the first time since September 2024, earning his 65th and 66th caps in friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.
