Al Nassr have parted company with manager Luis Castro three rounds into the 2024-25 Roshn Saudi League season.

The Riyadh club, seventh in the early table, confirmed the news on Tuesday, ending the Portuguese manager’s 14-month tenure in the Saudi Arabian top flight.

In a statement released on social media, the nine-time Saudi champions said: “Al Nassr can announce that head coach Luis Castro has left the club. Everyone at Al Nassr would like to thank Luis and his staff for their dedicated work during the past 14 months, wishing them the best of luck for the future.”

Castro, 63, was installed as Al Nassr manager in July last year and went on to lead the capital side to a runner-up finish in the 2023-24 RSL. Al Nassr also reached last season's King's Cup final, where they were beaten by city rivals Al Hilal.

Al Nassr have begun this campaign with one win and two draws from three games, the most recent being last Friday’s 1-1 home draw with Al Ahli. Castro's final match in charge was Monday's 1-1 draw in the AFC Champions Elite opener against Al Shorta in Iraq.

Al Nassr are next in action on Friday, when they take on Al Ettifaq in Dammam in Matchweek 4 of the current RSL campaign.
