Luís Godinho appointed for Tondela v Benfica amid controversy | OneFootball

Luís Godinho has been appointed to referee Tondela v Benfica in the 20th round of Liga Portugal Betclic, a choice that has prompted debate over his recent displays in Benfica games, according to Glorioso 1904.

The Conselho de Arbitragem named the officials on Wednesday, 28 January, with Godinho to take charge of the fixture.

The match is scheduled for 1 February, kick-off 20:30, with Benfica visiting Tondela.

Godinho, who worked the Taça da Liga semi-final, will be assisted by Rui Teixeira and Pedro Mota, with Iancu Vasilica as fourth official.

Manuel Mota will serve as VAR, with Paulo Miranda as AVAR.

The selection has not gone down well among Benfica circles because Godinho, alongside Tiago Martins, was involved in errors during the Taça de Portugal final, when he failed to penalise an aggression by Matheus Reis on Andrea Belotti.
