Inter Milan forward Luis Henrique has explained why a proposed move to Flamengo in 2022 collapsed, citing disagreement over a purchase obligation.

"Flamengo made a loan offer to Olympique Marseille, but the club wanted an obligation to buy and they did not accept. They only wanted a loan, so there was no agreement. Then Botafogo came in and accepted that obligation-to-buy clause, tied to appearance targets. Flamengo were the first to make contact, before Botafogo." He told GE.

With Marseille’s terms not accepted, Luis Henrique returned to Botafogo, the club where he came through. That meant missing out on Flamengo’s 2022 Libertadores and Brasileirão titles, and suffering the frustration of losing the national championship with the Rio side.

Now in Europe, the forward is enjoying a strong spell and is close to silverware with Inter Milan. If Inter win away to Como on Saturday 02, they will lift another Italian title.

Flamengo, meanwhile, prepare to face Vasco in the 14th round of the Brasileirão. The clássico kicks off at 16:00, Brasília time, on Sunday 03 at the Maracanã.
