Luis Suarez 'would never say no' to Uruguay World Cup recall | OneFootball

Luis Suarez, 39, says he could return for Uruguay at the 2026 World Cup, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July in America, despite announcing his international retirement in September 2024.

"Obviously the national team is always what we want. We start thinking about it today, it is in our heads, and with the World Cup approaching, if they need you... what do you do? I will never say no to my country," he told El Pais.

"It is impossible for me to say no, as long as I am still playing, as long as I remain active."

He last featured for Uruguay against Paraguay on 9 September, a 0-0 draw.

The striker is with Inter Miami and has started only one of their six MLS matches this year.

Last year, in 2025, he played 50 matches, scored 17 goals and provided 17 assists, alongside Lionel Messi.
