Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku ended his goal drought for Belgium in a 2-0 friendly win over Luka Modric’s Croatia, with many Serie A players involved.

This was a warm-up test for both teams going to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Belgium emerged the 2-0 winners thanks to a Youri Tielemans goal in the first half, and Lukaku sprinting forward to score on the counter-attack late on.

Lukaku back in business

It was a special moment for the centre-forward, who managed to score only one goal this season for Napoli, on February 28 against Hellas Verona.

He had not played at all since March 6, struggling with muscular issues as a result of his serious thigh tear in August 2025.

Lukaku has 90 goals for his country, but the most recent was in June 2025 against Wales.

Milan defender Koni De Winter also came on as a substitute along with Lukaku.

Inter’s Petar Sucic and Como talent Martin Baturina were also in the starting XI, with Nikola Moro, Mario Pasalic, Marin Pongracic and Nikola Vlasic coming on for the restart.
