Monaco came from behind to beat Lyon 2-1 at Groupama Stadium, with Maghnes Akliouche central to the turnaround and Folarin Balogun converting the winner from the spot.
According to Get French Football News, a tense, stop-start opening gave way after a quarter of an hour as Akliouche, Endrick, Pavel Šulc and Orel Mangala traded efforts. Despite Lyon’s control, Jordan Teze had the first big chance on the half-hour, Afonso Moreira clearing to keep him out.
Just before half-time, Endrick’s driving run set up Šulc to notch his 11th Ligue 1 goal, and Corentin Tolisso then curled against the post with Lukas Hradecky beaten.
Monaco regrouped at the break with sharper pressing. On the hour Endrick nearly doubled the lead, only for Teze to clear off the line, before the Dutchman sent a superb lobbed pass that Akliouche finished to level.
Minutes later, Akliouche won a penalty that Balogun converted, amid Lyon protests over a potential earlier foul on Endrick. Sébastien Pocognoli’s men held firm through a fraught finale, which included Nicolás Tagliafico’s sending-off and a late flurry of home pressure.
Ratings highlights: Dominik Greif 7, six saves and impressive despite defeat. Šulc 7, scored and led the line intelligently on his return. Endrick 6, lively but wasteful and lost the ball before Monaco’s second. Akliouche 8, outstanding, also freshly called up by Didier Deschamps. Balogun 6, decisive from the spot. Teze 7, crucial at both ends and close to scoring before Moreira’s first-half clearance.
