Lyon will head to Strasbourg for Saturday’s 18:00 Première Ligue fixture without eight of the players who started Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final in Germany.
According to Le Progres, the squad fly on Saturday morning and, with nothing at stake in Alsace, the staff are prioritising Thursday’s return against Wolfsburg after a 1-0 first-leg defeat.
The entire back line from Germany, Ashley Lawrence, Wendie Renard, Ingrid Engen and Selma Bacha, plus goalkeeper Christiane Endler, a new mother, will remain at home to preserve their energy.
Damaris Egurrola, Melchie Dumornay and Tabitha Chawinga, who also began at the Volkswagen Arena, are likewise not travelling.
Their absence opens the door for academy players. Goalkeeper Lou Marchal and defenders Maïssa Fathallah and Romane Rafalski are regulars around the senior group, unlike midfielder Charline Coutel.
Féerine Belhadj returns in goal after a successful stand-in during February. The travelling group: Belhadj, Marchal (g), Fathallah, Nelhage, Rafalski, Sombath, Svava, Tarciane, Benyahia, Coutel, Heaps, Shrader, Yohannes, Becho, Brand, Diani, Hegerberg, Katoto.
