Match report following first friendly against TSG Hoffenheim

SV Werder Bremen fell to a 1-0 defeat in their first of two friendlies against TSG Hoffenheim on 1st August. Koki Machida (19') netted the only goal of the game in front of 2,000 spectators at the Silberstadt-Arena in Schwaz.

First-half highlights:

1st minute: The first chance of the afternoon falls to TSG, as Lemperle plays in Kramaric. His shot from a tight angle goes just wide of the post.

13th minute: Bittencourt takes aim from midfield, forcing Baumann into a diving save to push the ball wide of the target.

19th minute: TSG take the lead. Machida heads in Kramaric's corner.

30th minute: Werder's best chance of the afternoon goes begging! Schmid gets the ball at the edge of the box and decides to lay it off for Covic. The youngster looks to slot the ball in at the far post, but is denied by Baumann.

Second-half highlights:

59th minute: Kramaric is able to get to the ball from a central position, but sends his effort just wide.

61st minute: TSG continue to control the match, with Kramaric involved once again. This time, his shot is straight at Zetterer.

62nd minute: Covic picks out Njinmah. The striker finds himself with space in front of Baumann, but his shot lacks precision.

78th minute: So close to an equaliser! Schmid wins possession on the left side and lays it off for Njinmah, who isn't able to hit the target from 14 metres out.

Summary: SV Werder managed to create chances in the first half, but were unable to find an answer for Hoffenheim's opener. After the change of ends, TSG were the more dominant side. Overall, it was a strong first friendly in which plenty of players were able to feature.
