Noni Madueke is beginning to prove exactly why Gooners were told he was worth every penny of the £52 million Arsenal boldly sanctioned for him, despite an unspectacular spell at Stamford Bridge.
His start to life in north London was quiet. Three games in, some questioned whether Arsenal had overpaid.
But then came the international break and with it, a reminder of Madueke’s true potential. In England colours, he threw out the full Bukayo Saka vibes from the right wing, offering the same relentless threat Arsenal’s star boy is known for. Suddenly, Gooners began to realise the gem they had on their hands.
The hope was that if he could replicate that England form in Arsenal red and white, they would have a serious weapon.
And he did just that.

In his first game back after the break, Madueke was too hot to handle. Against Nottingham Forest, he picked up right where he left off against Serbia: he was sensational down the right wing.
Saka was not missed. Arsenal’s No. 20 was a menace, direct, unpredictable, and constantly taking on defenders. He fed the box with dangerous deliveries time and again.
Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Forest was a Noni Madueke show. And here is how the media reacted:
The Sun wrote: “The Englishman was Arsenal’s second-best player – his corner provided the assist for Martin Zubimendi’s stunner – and he was prepared to dribble down the flank with purpose and intent, beating Forest’s Morato every time he approached him.”
The Daily Star admitted: “The summer recruit from Chelsea continued to showcase his dazzling skills, breezing past makeshift left-back Morato time and again. He was the constant threat throughout the match, and the defender was eventually relieved of his duties and moved to centre-back following an injury to Murillo.”
Football London echoed: “Was a real threat down the right-hand side, showing off his skills throughout, and produced some excellent crosses too, and deliveries after taking over corner duties. Treated to a variety of cut-backs, byline drives and right-footed crosses, the quality on show was mesmeric at times.”
Madueke is going to come good for Arsenal; that much was clear against Forest.
His standing ovation as he left the pitch felt like the first of many. Gooners have a new star to cheer.
Your thoughts on Madueke’s performance against Forest?
